MANUSCRIPT EVALUATION

Want to know if your story works? Unsure what kind of editing—if any—it needs? Book a manuscript evaluation and receive:

  • A concise diagnostic report highlighting your manuscript’s strengths and weaknesses.

  • Clear recommendations for next steps (e.g. a round of copy edits).

  • A 45-minute follow-up chat to discuss the report’s findings and your questions.

BEST FOR

Writers with a complete draft seeking professional feedback: If you’ve completed your manuscript and want to receive professional feedback before querying agents, submitting to publishers, or investing in further editing, a manuscript evaluation is right for you. Especially useful for determining whether your manuscript is market-ready!

Writers seeking big-picture feedback but not a full developmental edit: A manuscript evaluation provides a broad overview of how your manuscript is doing, as well as some strategic suggestions on how it might be improved, but doesn’t go into as much depth as a developmental edit and doesn’t include sidebar comments on the manuscript itself. It’s perfect if you just want a “temperature check” on your novel.

Writers seeking affordable big-picture feedback: Manuscript evaluations are cost-effective. In fact, mine are always half the price of a full developmental edit.

Has the Global Affordability Crisis impacted your editing budget? Apply for my “Fair Exchange” program: In an effort to support authors, I’m introducing the “Fair Exchange” program. Here’s how it works: If you can’t afford my normal rates, I’ll offer you a 10-40% discount (the exact percentage will depend on your circumstances) in exchange for your help in increasing Noumenon Edits’ online visibility. This could mean:

  • Providing a thorough, honest review of my services that I can potentially use to market Noumenon Edits to prospective clients.

  • Creating posts on social media (Instagram, Threads, etc.) discussing your experience with Noumenon Edits.

  • Mentioning Noumenon Edits on your novel’s acknowledgements page.

  • Recommending Noumenon Edits to your fellow authors (assuming that’s something you’d feel comfortable doing, of course!).

It could also mean something else entirely. I’m open to suggestions. At the end of the day, the point is to create a trade that works for both of us.

If you’re interested in participating in the program, let me know in the contact form, and we’ll work something out.

Sample Edit: You can request a sample edit of your first chapter for a small fee (which will be deducted from the total if you decide to move forward with a full edit). If, on the other hand, you’d like to get a general sense of what my big-picture feedback looks like without scheduling a sample edit, I’d be delighted to share an excerpt from a previous editorial letter.
