FAQS

Do you use ai to edit?

No, I will never use AI to edit your work or submit your manuscript to a large language model (LLM). In fact, all my contracts include an anti-AI clause to protect your privacy and creative rights.

what’s the turnaround time on your services?

Developmental edits usually take about 4-6 weeks, while manuscript evaluations typically take 2 weeks. However, the exact turnaround time depends on your manuscript and is determined on a case-by-case basis. I’m always happy to discuss your project’s timeline and find an option that works for you!

Do you provide SAMPLE EDITS?

So here’s the thing: unlike line or copy edits (sentence-level editing services), developmental edits and manuscript evaluations (big-picture editing services) assess your story as a whole, examining how all the narrative elements work together to create a compelling work of fiction. Because this process requires a holistic view of your work, it’s not really possible to provide a meaningful sample for a small section of your manuscript.

That said, if you’d like to get a general sense of what my feedback looks like, I’d be delighted to share an excerpt from a previous editorial letter (with the author’s permission, of course). You can also request a first chapter assessment for a small fee (which will be deducted from the total if you decide to move forward with a full edit). This option lets you sample a big-picture edit on a smaller scale (and is only possible because first chapters function as standalone units). Just bear in mind that my feedback on your first chapter may change once I see it in the context of your entire manuscript (which is why this service is generally only recommended for structurally sound drafts).

Finally, I’m always happy to discuss any aspect of the developmental editing process during our free 45-minute discovery call. This complimentary consultation is a great opportunity for you to learn more about my editing process and see if we’re a good fit.

what file formats do you accept?

I prefer working with Microsoft Word files as Word includes a “Sidebar Comment” feature that makes it easy for me to annotate your manuscript and keep my feedback clear and organised.

DO YOU provide EDITING SERVICES IN SPANISH?

Yes, I offer editing services in both English and Spanish! I’m actually a bilingual native speaker and have completed Philosophy degrees in both languages (my BA was in Spanish and my MA in English). Just let me know which language you’re most comfortable with!

Are there discounts for returning clients?

If you’re working on a series and I’ve provided a developmental edit for the first book, you’ll receive a 10% discount on editing services for each subsequent instalment in the series. This is my way of supporting your ongoing creative journey and celebrating our editorial partnership!

Are there discounts for writers from the global south?

Yes, I offer special rates for writers in the Global South, as defined by UN Trade and Development. This classification includes Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia (excluding Israel, Japan, and the Republic of Korea), and Oceania (excluding Australia and New Zealand). I understand that currency conversion can make my editing services less accessible to writers in these regions. For this reason, my rates for these writes typically include a significant discount—often between 20% and 40% off my standard fees.

If you’re a writer in the Global South, please be sure to include this information in the contact form, so I know to provide a personalised quote!

Can I see your qualifications?

Absolutely! I’m happy to provide copies of all my certificates/degrees on request. Most include a code you can use to verify the credential online.
